Sintra
Sintra is a lovely town west of Lisbon.  It was a favourite retreat for the kings of Portugal and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The railway station a Sintra.
View of Sintra.
The Palacio da Pena, five kilometers south of Sintra. This is an amazing palace of eclectic architectural style, built in the 9th century for the husband of the young Queen maria, Ferdinand Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

Looking down.

Enjoying the sun and the view on the cafe terrace.

The entrance arch with studs and crenelated turrets.

Beautiful arches.

Precious Oriental porcelain tiles.

There is a great view from the palace.
