Bicycle ride to the vegetable village and the beach

Mary arrived in Hoi An for the weekend and one of our trips was a cycle ride to the vegetable village  Tra Que, and the beach.

  Heading out of Hoi An.

On the road - only a few kilometres out and we're ready for a water stop.

We arrive at Tra Que, the Vegetable Village and visited a farm called Water Wheel. The palms were   to protect the veggies from the strong sun.

  Everything was lush and healthy.

    A papaya tree.

    Alexander runs the water wheel.

Mary has a go at grinding rice to make rice flower.

We were given a tour of the garden.  All the plants were explained to us and we sampled many.

    Ready to work.

Watering is very labour intensive, especially when the weather is so hot.

  Refilling the cans.

  Lunch.

Passing over a river on the way to the beach.

  An Bang Beach.

   It was a lovely coastline.

Mary enjoys an enormous coconut drink.

Cycling back to Hoi An along the river.

   A lovely ride.

Back in time for cocktail hour.
