Lovely London and further afield -  Glastonbury and Ironbridge                            15/9/2010 - 25/9/2010

View of St Pauls from South Bank.

While we were in London for Nicola and Adams wedding we stayed at this fabulous apartment near the Barbican with Judith and Chris.

Selfridges shoe display.

Glastonbury - We left London in a hire car to do a trip around England.  Our first stop was Glastonbury, a town with a beautiful ruined abbey, a Tor, a healing spring and full of  mystics, magic and hippies old and young.  The house next to our Bed and Breakfast has put in an application to make it a witches retreat.

Glastonbury Abbey.

Up on the Tor, drumming and singing a chant about Mother Nature.

Iron Bride Gorge - a very important site in the Industrial Revolution.  Now it's just beautiful, and a favourite spot for us.

Tiles at Jackfied tile factory in the Gorge.  We stayed at Calcutts House B&B, close to this fantastic factory.

Riding on - Lake Konstanz    6/9/2010
After our trip to the Rhein Falls, we returned for another night in Konstanz before setting off again for a week to cycle right around the lake.
A covered bridge along the track.
In Switzerland we took a train to the lovely town  of St Gallan to visit the monastery and to have a fondue.  Judith and Chris enjoy the cheese fondues.
We followed the cheese with a chocolate and fruit fondue.

Bike ride around Lake Konstanz   5/9/2010
The bike ride has been fantastic so far and except for one day, we have had glorious weather.  We met up with Judith and Chris at Konstanz, on the German part Lake Konstanz.  It is a lovely town with lots of interesting buildings, museums etc.  Lake Konstanz is actually in three countries, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In front of our hotel, about to set off from Konstanz for the first part of our ride - away from Lake Konstanz to ride down the Rhein to The Rhein Falls.

St George - an ancient church on Richenau Island

Diessenhofen on the Rhein, the first village we stayed in.

Zurich  2/9/2010

Three days in Zurich - a beautiful city by the lake. We took a train up to the top of the hills and then a 6 km hike along the ridge with fantastic views of Zurich, Lake Zurich and the snow capped mountains in the distance. Returned by gondola car and train.  It's great to be having lovely sunny weather at last.
