Boulder 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 May, 1 June

We had six lovely, sunny days in the beautiful college town of Boulder where we took it a bit easier and relaxed. Boulder is set in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and is surrounded on about three sides by mountains. At this time of the year Boulder’s parks have many homeless people, presumably coming there for the lovely summer months ahead.

We had the top floor of this old Victorian house in downtown.

It was very nice inside.

View of The Flatiron Range from the lounge room.

Our neighbours had a kind of look out tower to catch the views.

Boulder has an attractive pedestrian only area, Pearl Street Mall, which is full of sculptures, play things for kid, restaurants and arty shops. There were a lot of street performers there too.

This frog looks quite sad.

The Boulder Court House.

This photo of the Dushanbe Teahouse is for Alexander. Boulder's sister city is Dushanbe, Tajikistan and this traditional Tajik Teahouse was a gift from them to the people of Boulder. It was crafted in Tajikistan, taken apart and shipped to Boulder.

It has a wonderful hand carved and painted ceiling.

Boulder Creek runs right through town with miles and miles of fantastic walking/cycling paths. The column indicates past floods. Flash flooding is not unknown here.

Joy by the creek.

As well as walking the Boulder Creek path in town, one day we took the trail up the Boulder Canyon. Here the Creek was flowing fast and furious with melted snow from the mountains.

These men are up this rock trying to secure it after a big rock fall a couple of days earlier.

The wild flowers are quite abundant now.

Bill inspects an old cast iron water channel along the way.

The path eventually petered out to reveal the perfect picnic spot.
