Off we went up the Boulder Canyon to Georgetown. We missed seeing the Boulder Falls as there has been a recent rock slide.
The Barker Reservoir at Nederland.
Climbing higher, we pass an old mine.
Georgetown, another attractive old mining town with Victorian buildings lining the main road.
Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
The lake at Georgetown.
A trestle rail bridge for the Georgetown Loop Railway.
The Visitor's Centre for the railway.
So, now for our third train trip, the round trip chugging upwards from Georgetown to Silver Plume. The trip was much shorter (only a bit over an hour) and not as dramatic as the Durango to Silverton train, but none the less, it was really enjoyable.
Once again we had beautiful scenery following a rapidly rolling river.
Around one of the bends.
The historic Lebanon Gold Mine.
Looping back over the trestle bridge.
From here you look down 33 metres to the floor of Devil's Gate Canyon.
A cheeky chipmunk.
We called into Golden on the way back. Dolphins swim in the Clear Creek which runs through town.
...and cowboys and cowgirls.
The old Armoury is the largest cobblestone building in the USA.
