On our last day in Windsor we hired bikes and rode to the village of Bray and back through Eton. The day started out sunny, but was over cast by the afternoon.
The route was part of the National Cycle Network. This didn't stop us getting lost several times.
Bridge over part of the Thames River.
Boveney Lock on the Thames River.
The rowing course used at the 2012 Olympic Games on the purpose built Dorney Lake. The lake and huge expanses of park land surrounding them are owned by Eton College.
Bray Marina.
Bray is a small, picture perfect village just outside Maidenhead.
It's chief claim to fame is that it has more Michelin Stars than Rome and Chicago combined. As well as being home to Heston Blumenthal's three star Fat Duck restrauant, there is another three star restaurant and two Blumethal pubs. This unimposing building is The Fat Duck. The famous renovations are almost completed.
We had a light lunch at his One Michelin Star pub, the Hinds Head.
The food was fantastic. I had a salad of beetroot, goats cheese, pumpkin seed, cider poached pear and a few other ingredients. Bill had hock, chicken and leek pie with potatoes to die for.
St Michael's church, Bray.
Even Joy was too tall to fit through this door.
Returning by the rowing lakes again.
Eton Main Street. Eton is just across the bridge from Windsor.
Eton College and chapel.
The boys in their outfits!
