The town of Windsor is towered over by the huge Windsor Castle. It is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century. The queen uses it often for weekend home and for ceremonial and state occasions. It is an interesting and impressive place to visit.

The day we arrived in Windsor, September 9th, was the day the queen became Britain's longest reining monarch, so there are things all over the place to commemorate that. This display was at the castle. She has been in the job for over 63 years.
Saint George's Chapel in the castle precincts. Inside it is absolutely beautiful, but no photos can be taken.
We toured the never ending display of ornate state rooms and apartments, as well as Queen Mary's Doll's House and took a special tour of the enormous kitchen area. Unfortunately no inside photos to be taken anywhere.
