More on Washington

The Library of Congress.  This is a beautiful building inside and out.  We saw the magnificent reading room, Thomas Jefferson's library, and various other exhibitions.

Inside the foyer of the Library of Congress. Unfortunately we were not allowed to photograph the lovely reading room.

A Henry Moore couple.

The  Natural History Museum.

Even their government offices look very opulent in Washington.

The backview of the White House.

Front view of the same.

Michelle Obama's famous veggie garden.

A teapot in the Renwick Gallery, the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Craft and Decorative Arts Gallery.  It is a small, but splendid place.

Various goblets.

Part of the Botanical Gardens.

The American Indian Museum, designed to look like a desert landscape.  We had a lovely  Native American feast here.

Outside the American Indian Museum.

The foyer of the National Gallery of Art - an outstandingly wonderful gallery.

Ancient Roman frescoes and tiled floor.

Benozzo Gozzoli, from Montifalco, The Feast of Herod and the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist.

Fra Angelico: The Healing of Palladia by Saint Cosmas and Saint Damian.

Edward Savage: George Washington's Family.

This is the Old Stone House, built in 1765. It is the oldest private home in Washington.  It is in an historic village, Georgetown, now a suburban area.
