Washington Parades

We were in Washington for the Memorial Day long weekend celebrations.

The first parade was the Rolling Thunder and approximately 15,000 motor bikes, mostly Harley Davidsons driven by veterans, circulated around the mall.  Very patriotic, and once again, mostly coming from a certain demographic - ours in other words.

It went on and on and the noise was amazing.

Next day was the Memorial Day parade.  It went for two hours.

Of course, the red coats came.

And the stars and stripes!

There were hundreds of marching bands...

and flag wavers.

Even America's Idol.

George Washington himself!

They do love to dress up.

Here is Buzz  Aldrin, the astronaut who was the pilot on Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing  on July 20, 1969.  He was the second human being to set foot on the moon, following Neil Armstrong
