Trek to Cat Cat

We decided to venture out on a trek by ourselves the next day, to the Black H'mong village of Cat Cat, just three kilometres from Sa Pa.

We set off out of town in the other direction.

It was very steep going, but once again we encountered paddy fields and beautiful scenery.

It feels like you are on top of the world.

After a while we encounter stairs, and these went on for about a kilometre and a half.
It looks like this village buffalo has his eyes on Bill.

       Will these steps never end!

At the bottom we were rewarded by a pretty waterfall.

Now it's time to follow the track uphill.

    Newly planted rice.

    Suspension bridge.

A couple of kilometres into the steep return journey, we reached a spot where motor cycles wait to take the weary up the last kilometre to Sa pa.  Yes, it was scary, but worth it!

Later that afternoon we said farewell to the lovely SaPa with it's magnificent mountains and it's lovely lake and gardens and headed off to the train for our overnight return to Hanoi.
