Pamukkale

Next day we were off over the Taurus Mountains again, travelling a bit faster than this man and his horse.

Lunch today was in the gorgeous grounds of a large tennis club.

The waiter doing the rounds with the food choices.

The travertine terraces of Pamukkale, meaning "Cotton Castle".

The glistening pools and cascades are an incredible natural phenomenon made from limestone.

These channels distribute water over the terraces.

The terraces look like they are snow covered from some angles.

Many people swim in the restorative calcium-rich waters.

The Romans built a large spa city, Hierapolis, to take advantage of the water's curative powers. You can still swim in the their pool amongst submerged sections of original fluted marble columns in 36 degrees C water.
These terraces look like dripping cake icing.
