We started the day riding past sunflower fields.
Celebrating another hill.
The landscape is becoming more wooded and hillier, but the downs are great.
There is our destination, Pedraza, but first we must go down then up again. We are have by now almost conquered our fear of hills.
Crossing the town gate into Pedraza. The town is said to have been occupied continuously since the 4th Century BC and there is also evidence the Romans were here. The feudal system operated in this town until the 19th Century.
Debbie has a chat over the balcony.
The Plaza Mayor. They were cleaning up after a bull fight the previous weekend. The whole square had been filled with sand.
It looks like the Wild West.
A Spanish wedding in the Plaza Mayor.
Bill and Judith relax by the wall.
Inside the castle.
Castle arches.
The family of the famous Spanish painter Ignacio Zuloaga lived in the castle for many years and there was an exhibition of his paintings.
A menacing castle door.
The view from the castle down to part of the village and also the road we came up on.
Another door, this time, the prison.
Debbie was hauled into prison for speeding uphill. Don't worry, we convinced the town authorities to let her out. (A small bribe goes a long way in these small towns).
View of the aqueduct from the prison.
